Outgoing, confident adults who aren't afraid to get up on stage and have absolutely no clue what's going to happen.
Prior improvisational theater experience (although handy) is not required.
Improvisational musicians are also welcome!

My boyfriend and I attended your show last night - looking for something to do in Harrisonburg is tough... I ran across the ad for Mental Flossing - and we LOVED it! Kudos to you all for a great performance :)

What we do...
During the show we will ask the audience to yell out suggestions for things like locations, favorite household items, occupations, relationships, etc. -
we get whatever the audience gives us:
Living in a giant tree house!
Two plumbers that live in the desert with no running water!
A rabbi and a nun fighting over the last candied apple at a county fair!
Our cast of talented comedians will then create scene after scene
of comedic mayhem that is a completely audience driven...
...and never to be seen again
You may even find yourself up on the stage performing with the actors - we just love "volunteers" - especially when they are volunteered by their dates...
Anything can happen!

The core vision of Mental Flossing is to establish a permanent and professional source of entertainment and venue for talented performers from within our own community. It is a combination of laughter, entertainment and community service. For that vision to be successful, we're looking for committed individuals -- not just individuals that should be committed.
Mental Flossing is a combination of live improvisational comedy and skit/sketch comedy. Though we consider ourselves an "improv troupe", we are open to people with skit comedy experience. Any scripted skit should not exceed 5 minutes in length. All skit ideas are submitted for group approval.
A large part of our core vision is to give back to the community through our Comedy for Charity events. Our belief is that people need a hand up, not a hand out. As such, our efforts are to benefit groups such as Hospice, area food banks or other community service organizations.
Though part of our proceeds are donated to these service organizations, we also realize that not everything should have a dollar sign attached. Therefore, we're also looking for people that are willing to simply give their time. This may encompass anything from holding someone's hand or helping buy coats for those in need. This too, is part of the core vision for Mental Flossing.
